Founded in 1886 by David McConnell as California Perfume Company, Avon had the purpose of distributing perfumes to customers the easy way through bringing products directly to them. Eventually the company’s name was changed to Avon after McConnell visited Shakespeare’s home in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
With over five million representatives in over hundred countries, Avon is known as the world’s largest direct selling company.
In order to become an Avon representative, one must pay $10, which is considered to be a very cheap investment considering all other MLM companies start-up costs.
